At TREES Inc., we invite you to celebrate and memorialize a friend, family member or special occasion while enhancing the beauty of our Terre Haute parks.

Why Choose a Commemorative Tree?

A memorial or commemorative tree serves as a lasting tribute to honor someone or mark an important event. These trees are living gifts that will beautify our parks and provide shade, comfort and joy for generations to come.​

Types of Commemorative Gifts?

  • Gifts of Honor: Celebrate an achievement, express gratitude, or show your love for someone dear to you.

  • Gifts of Celebration: Mark a birthday, anniversary, wedding or the birth of a child with a tree that symbolizes your joy and love.

  • Gifts of Memory: Plant a memorial tree as a beautiful tribute to someone who has touched your life.

​Tree Planting Details

  • Quality Assurance: Our trees are high-quality native Indiana hardwoods and are carefully selected and planted by professionals.

  • Species Selection: Tree species is determined by the location and needs of the particular park as well as species availability. Requests for a specific tree species are honored when possible, depending on availability.

  • Planting Schedule: All trees in this program are planted in late fall.

  • Cost: The cost for each tree is $225, though prices may vary due to market fluctuations.

  • Submission Deadline: Deadline for ordering a tree to be planted each calendar year is Oct. 1. 

  • Notification: TREES will send an acknowledgement of your gift both to you and to the individual or family being remembered or honored. After planting, the individual or family will be notified of the location and species of the tree. A sign will be placed on the tree the summer following planting.

  • One-year Replacement: TREES Inc. will replace a tree if it fails to leaf out the first spring after planting or dies during the first year after planting. However, too many factors affect the survival and growth of a tree for TREES to guarantee the life of a tree after the first year. TREES does, however, promise that the tree will be professionally planted and given a good start to grow as a living memorial or tribute

​Two Ways to Participate

  • Contribute to the General Fund: Your donation, of any amount, will support TREES Inc.’s ongoing efforts to plant trees in community parks.

  • Sponsor an Individual Tree: Make a meaningful impact by sponsoring a specific tree! Your contribution will fund a tree planted in Deming Park or Collett Park, in a location where it’s most needed. We will notify the family of the tree's location once it’s planted. Smaller donations from multiple donors to remember the same individual or occasion will be combined to plant a tree if the total donated equals the cost of the tree.
